Janet Carbin is a contestant from Survivor: Island of the Idols.
Janet's likability and work ethic allowed her to make strong connections with her tribemates, getting her to the merge. At the first post-merge Tribal Council, she attempted to stand up for what she believed was right by targeting her ally Dan Spilo after several women came up to her and expressed that they felt that Dan had inappropriately touched them. However, she found herself relegated to the minority after Dan was saved, but nevertheless used her strong social connections to once again work herself into a position of power. At the final five, she thought that she was poised to make it to the end as she possessed a Hidden Immunity Idol and was the best at making fire. However, Dean Kowalski used an Idol Nullifier to cancel her idol, leading Janet to be voted out for being too big of a threat to win.

Survivor[]
Determined to erase the stigma older women often face at the start of the season, Janet proved to be an asset by being the first to make fire for the Vokai tribe. Janet would also become a player others would go to, whether it be the women consulting her about Dan Spilo's behavior or Lauren Beck and Tommy Sheehan approaching her about blindsiding Molly Byman. Aided further by some strong challenge performances, Janet's position on Vokai seemed pretty stable. It would remain that way after a Tribe Switch on Day 12 saw Janet end up with four other Vokai members against and three original Lairo on the new Lairo tribe. Janet was able to immediately connect with Karishma Patel and Tom Laidlaw, but she did not let these new connections cloud her gameplay. Her conversation with Tom revealed that Tom would be loyal to his original alliance, helping Janet make the decision to take him out at the first opportunity. On Day 17, Janet was selected by random draw to go to the Island of the Idols, where she declined a chance to win a "Safety Without Power" advantage. When Lairo again lost immunity, Janet would be blindsided when Dean Kowalski played a Hidden Immunity Idol given to him by Kellee Kim to take out her ally Jack Nichting.
When the tribes merged into the Lumuwaku tribe on Day 20, gameplay was mixed with real world issues with Dan and Kellee once again on the same tribe, causing some previous incidents to resurface and repeat. Though Dan was Janet's ally, she was willing to put that aside after hearing that Dan made some of the women feel uncomfortable. Janet and Kellee pushed hard for Dan's elimination, but did not know that Elizabeth Beisel and Missy Byrd were actually targeting Kellee, leading to Kellee's blindside at Tribal Council and Janet being relegated to the minority. Upon returning to camp, Janet sought answers from Elizabeth and Missy, though the two continued to exaggerate Dan's actions and lie to Janet. Janet feared being one of the next players to go, leading her to look for and eventually find a Hidden Immunity Idol the following morning. However, another heated Tribal Council centered on Dan's behavior led to Janet misplaying her idol, though Jamal Shipman was voted out instead. Continuing to play from the bottom, Janet survived the next two Tribal Councils, despite being targeted by Aaron Meredith in the first, and being involved in a tie with Elizabeth in the second, with Aaron and Elizabeth being voted out instead.
Janet and Tommy won the Reward Challenge on Day 31, allowing them to enjoy a feast with their loved ones. They invited their main allies Dan and Lauren, leaving outsiders Dean, Karishma, Elaine Stott, and Noura Salman back at camp. After a frantic Tribal Council led to Karishma's elimination, it seemed like Janet now had a clear path to the final four after having reintegrated herself into the Vokai majority alliance and finding another Hidden Immunity Idol. However, Elaine warned Janet that if Elaine were to be voted out next, Janet would be the next biggest threat for jury votes. At Tribal Council, however, Janet remained loyal to her alliance and voted out Elaine, followed by Dan being ejected from the game after another incident of inappropriate touching. However, Janet's decision to tell Lauren and Tommy about her idol would backfire as the two told Dean, who received an Idol Nullifier at the Island of the Idols. On Day 37, thinking that she would get to the Final Three by playing her idol at the final five, then win the fire-making challenge at the final four, Janet asked Tommy to get the rest of the tribe to vote for her, while she would use her idol to save herself and vote out Lauren instead. However, Dean used his Idol Nullifier to cancel out Janet's idol and Janet's allies turned on her for being too big of a threat to win both the fire-making challenge, and subsequently, the whole game, eliminating her in a 4-1 vote.
At the Final Tribal Council, Janet asked Tommy about the reasoning behind him betraying her. Tommy explained that Janet played too good of a game for him to have a chance at beating her if they were both in the Final Three. Janet would vote for Tommy to win the title of Sole Survivor, which he did in an 8-2-0 vote over Dean and Noura.
