Jacques Burger

Jacques Burger is a contestant from Survivor South Africa: Island of Secrets.

Jacques' superfan knowledge of the game helped him to survive a tumultuous start to the game, after misplaying his Hidden Immunity Idol and losing his number-one ally Ting Ting Wong before being switched onto the ailing Laumei tribe that lost every Immunity Challenge. He got a lucky break after being brought into the Spitshake Seven alliance on the new Ta'alo tribe, but when the Amigos Alliance took over, Jacques was cast into the bottom. His position was worsened after he swore at his tribe in a moment of passion, which caused him to be ostracized until he was unceremoniously booted at the final seven.

Jacques is a Survivor super-fan. He has watched every single season – sometimes more than once – and even dedicated a podcast to Survivor SA: Philippines in 2018. This real brainiac, who is for obvious reasons always stereotyped as the nerd in a group, is adamant that he wants to be known as one of the greatest players in the history of the TV franchise. "I may look like I am on a hunger strike," the scrawny married industrial engineer says, "but I can hold my own in challenges." His nickname "Die Lem" was apparently earned during his early rugby-playing days. On paper, Jacques is a meticulous strategist whose social game is on point. Post-Survivor[]

Jacques, along with nineteen other former Survivor, Australian Survivor, Survivor South Africa, and Survivor New Zealand contestants, competed in the second Survivor-themed mini-competition of Sequester on June 20, 2020. He was eliminated in the sixteenth and penultimate round, finishing in 4th place.^[2]
