Divided into teams, castaways will start on a platform in the water, then swim out to a raft and work together to use a rope to pull themselves and the raft to another platform. From that platform, they climb up a ladder, retrieve a key, and then slide down a pole into the water. They must then race the key to shore. Once a team has all their keys, they will unlock a cage to retrieve a set of colored blocks. The team will then use the blocks to solve the puzzle from Sea Crates. The first team to finish wins.
History[]
United States[]
The challenge debuted in Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X as a Reward Challenge, wherein a random draw resulted in Jay Starrett not being placed on either team. Each team would swim to their raft, which was attached to a rope. They then used the rope to pull their raft to a station, where they had to take turns collecting five keys, sliding down a pole, and placing them on a keyring on the beach. They then had to take turns using the keys to unlock each of the four crates. Although steadily falling behind throughout the course, the purple team of Adam Klein, Bret LaBelle, Hannah Shapiro, Sunday Burquest, and Zeke Smith caught up with the orange team on the puzzle portion and won reward.
France[]
South Africa[]
In Survivor South Africa: Philippines, the challenge appeared as the second tribal Reward Challenge. The tribes were even heading into the puzzle, but Mindanao solved their puzzle first and continued their winning streak, receiving two live chickens as their reward.
Both times this challenge was used in an English-language season, the episode ended with a member of the losing team being eliminated by the rock-drawing tiebreaker.
