Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All is the second episode of Survivor: Nicaragua.

Story

Day 3

Bummed after visiting Tribal Council, where the whole Espada tribe voted out chatterbox Wendy DeSmidt-Kohlhoff, Holly felt vulnerable after aligning with Wendy, even voting her out anyway. "I feel like I'm kind of right now on the outs. And I know that my tribe senses I am," Holly said.

Day 4

Still at Espada camp, though groggy after a bad sleep (thanks to their yet-unfinished shelter), Jimmy J. started to assign camp chores to everybody. With Tyrone already fishing, Tyrone clashed with Jimmy J. Seeing all the drama, Marty watched from the sidelines, waiting for the right time to strike. Marty reveals, "I think I can use that to my advantage for the event that we have to vote someone else off."

Over at the younger La Flor tribe, Sash came up to NaOnka, revealing that he was a biracial, saying: "You know, I'm half black. My dad's from Jamaica. So I'd love to bring as many minorities to the end as possible." Felt that Sash is trustworthy and also being a racial minority herself, NaOnka aligned with him. The two then talked about bringing Brenda (of Chinese descent) into their alliance. Sash stated: "Being minorities, we have a unique bond that no one else can share. If we can work together at this, we could dominate this game."

Back at Espada, Holly saw Jill examining snails that could be edible. Thinking that the snails were not suitable for eating, Holly grabbed the pot of snails and dumped them, ensuing conflict. Jimmy T. commented: "Holly I think is a very nice person, but she's off the deep end. She needs to do well in this game and she's not and now she's hitting the panic buttons." When Jill told the tribe of Holly's actions, the tribe feared about Holly's sanity with Dan calling her crazy. Unknown to the tribe, Holly was behind them, eavesdropping after dumping the snails. In retaliation, Holly stole Dan's expensive crocodile leather shoes, filled them with sand, and threw them into the ocean. "I'm not going to sit back anymore and let them rub things in my face," Holly fumed.

Day 5

At Espada, Dan realized that his $1,600 leather shoes had gone missing. The tribe helped to look for it, leaving a very guilty Holly. A nervous Holly then approached Dan and confessed of what she had do

ne to his shoes. Angry at Holly, Dan declared: "I can't trust her and I don't know how they can. She's not going to get any forgiveness from me." During the day, Jimmy J. consoled a very distraught Holly, with the latter contemplated quitting the competition. The ex-NFL coach comforted her, telling: We all go through some adverse times and our minds get weak." Holly then decided to not leave the game. "The emotional meltdown that I had today might either carry me through or it's going to hurt me. I guess we are just going to have to wait and see," Holly reassured with high spirits.

Conflicts about footwear also rampaged in La Flor, when NaOnka cannot find her socks. She then declared an all-out war, stating: "If there's somebody that's either after me or somebody that's trying to irritate me, if they want to play dirty, I can play dirty too." Her already-annoyed tribemates reassured that no one took or wore her socks without her permission. Not backing down without socks, she took Fabio's extra pair, and when Fabio saw her wearing his socks without his consent, NaOnka started to verbally attack him. "I don't want people to think I'm a b-i-t-c-h, but the boy is stupid." NaOnka declared. Meanwhile, Fabio came up to Chase, telling him: "Dude, I can't wait for her to go home, man."

Day 6

The two tribes met Jeff for their next challenge, both for Reward and Immunity. The Espada tribe decided to use the Medallion of Power after not using it at the last challenge. Though the advantage indeed helped them to lead over La Flor, the Espada tribe struggled to shoot their other three balls. Challenge sit-out Naonka commended Kelly B. for performing well in the challenge, despite the latter's prosthetic leg. But in the end, the older tribe's gamble of using the Medallion eventually paid off, winning their first challenge. The elders picked fishing supplies over the tarp. With their younger rivals destined to go to their first Tribal Council, the Medallion was transferred into La Flor's possession.

On their way back to camp, Holly's mood started to brighten after their first victory, saying, "It proves that if you don't quit, the payoff will be huge." While starting to use their fishing gear, the tribe discovered a familiar note, a clue to a Hidden Immunity Idol at their camp. As Jill finished reading the note, the entire tribe started to scour the beach in search for the much coveted position of power. While Jill was rereading the images in the clue, she approached Marty and Dan for additional help. Upon seeing the picture with a man beside a tree ("Tree Man"), they then realized that it actually stands for "Tree Mail ('Male')." After digging near Tree Mail, the three found the Idol (a big, wooden key). Marty congratulated himself, saying, "The challenge now is how do we make it work."

Over at La Flor, Kelly B. was lauded by her tribemates after an impressive performance, despite their loss. Meanwhile, Alina and Kelly B. decided to eliminate Brenda for being a social threat and her close connections with Chase. Shannon, Fabio and Chase talked about getting rid of loudmouth NaOnka. When Alina and Kelly B. approached Shannon about their plan to oust Brenda, Shannon rethought his strategy and told Chase to vote Brenda out. Knowing that he might betray his closest ally, Chase came up to Brenda about the conspiracies against her. Chase explained, "I'm caught in the middle of two different alliances and I really have no idea what I'm going to do." While conversing at the shore, NaOnka and Brenda felt that either one of them is on the chopping block since Shannon was talking to everyone except for them two. After NaOnka telling her about Sash's "minority alliance," Brenda happily joined their pact. And with help from Kelly S. and Chase, five people are now secretly conspiring against Shannon. While conversing in the shelter about Brenda's alliance's vote plans, Alina overheard them and told Shannon everything she had heard. Shannon then approached Chase about his wavering pact with him. Chase indecisiveness left Shannon saying, "I don't know what's what. I don't know who's in my alliance. I don't know who to trust. If Chase is a man of his word, then Brenda will go home tonight. If not, I have a big target on my back." Before Tribal Council the tribe is torn between two alliances of five: Shannon, Benry, Fabio, Alina, and Kelly B., and Chase, Brenda, Sash, NaOnka, and Kelly S.

At Tribal Council, a paranoid Shannon put Chase into the hot seat by questioning his integrity. While Fabio tried to calm Shannon and Brenda outright telling Shannon that he was untrustworthy, a more agitated Shannon asked everyone about their true loyalties. Sash rebutted that "He was digging his own grave." Shannon retaliated by asking Sash if he was gay, leaving the tribe more surprised by Shannon's behavior. While Fabio was still persistent to slow Shannon down, Alina defended her ally by saying Shannon did not lie to anyone, but Chase did. Kelly B. only wished for the tribe to be united so they could win more challenges. In the end, Benry and Kelly B. decided to vote with Brenda's alliance, sending Shannon home in a 7-3 vote.

Challenges

Reward/Immunity Challenge: Hay Mate
One at a time, four tribe members would crawl in the mud under a net and then retrieve a ball from a stack of hay. Once all four balls were retrieved, they must remove the balls from their burlap casing. Then three tribe members would use small shields to bounce one ball at a time into a barrel. The first tribe to have all four balls in the barrel would win.
Medallion Advantage: Starting the challenge with one ball already in the barrel, as well as having one weaker tribe member sit out the challenge.
Reward: A choice between a tarp and fishing supplies. The winners will also get two clues to the Hidden Immunity Idol.

	Shannon	“	(voting for Brenda) I don't know if it matters. I'll probably be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches tonight.	”

Final Words

	Shannon	“	My biggest mistake would probably have to be… I should have gunned for Chase. La Flor just got a lot weaker. I mean, it just lost its leg and both its feet. These are a bunch of kids in there. I mean, I should have been with the older tribe, anyway. I'm basically a grownup. I've been married for eleven years so, I mean, you can stack up eleven years on top of this and I'm really like, forty-one years old. I hope the old people whoop up on 'em. I hope, uh, you know, they get what they deserve.	”
