Expedition Robinson 2004 is the eighth season of Expedition Robinson. This was the first season to be broadcast on the Swedish television channel TV3 on September 11, 2004 instead of SVT.

The season ended with Jerry Forsberg becoming the Sole Survivor by defeating Fike Najafi in an 11-9 jury vote.

Production

Initially, the previous season was planned to be the last one of the series. However, the show was instead moved from STV to a different Swedish television channel, TV3. In addition, the airing schedule changed from once a week to five episodes per week, airing on Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays.

TV3 announced that Expedition Robinson would be even more challenging by increasing the number of days the season lasted. The season was filmed in Tengah. Swedish journalist Robert Aschberg took over hosting duties from Anders Lundin. The prize for the winner was doubled from 500,000 kronor to 1,000,000.

Twists/Changes

• Tribe Division by Challenges: The first cycle saw all starting castaways compete without tribes until Day 8, where all those who had been eliminated would eventually end up on a separate beach and afterwards form the South Team.

• Oliver Kempe was eliminated at the starting point by the other castaways on Day 1.
• Tina Dadashvand was eliminated by being the last to reach the giant cage on Day 1.
• Johanna Hakala was eliminated by being the first to leave the giant cage on Day 3.
• Dan Karlsson was eliminated by being the first to fall at the Reward Challenge on Day 4.
• Nicolas Nath lost a duel against Gabriella Kopasz at the reward and was eliminated on Day 5.
• Belina Jarra was chosen to be eliminated after a challenge on Day 5.
• Dennis Fernholm was eliminated by being voted out in the first Tribal Council on Day 6.

• Team X: On Day 15, it was revealed that after the castaways had left the cage on Day 3, a new tribe of five castaways had entered the game, hidden from the original tribes.
• Joker: On Day 24, there was an auction for one of the remaining castaways' place in the game for a returning player: Johnny Leinonen from Expedition Robinson 1999. Frida Lundell ended up winning the auction and. in turn, left the game.
• Semi-Merge: On Day 33, the North Team and the South Team were merged into Robinson. They were soon accompanied by Team X, who was introduced to the game, competing against the Robinson tribe.
• Even Teams: At the sixth cycle's Immunity Challenge, it was revealed that no matter the outcome, the tribes would get evened out with seven castaways each. The winning tribe got to pick which two castaways from the Robinson tribe would transfer over to Team X. After an internal voting session on Day 36, Isabel Adrian and Mikael Lundell were forced to switch teams to Team X.
• The Serenity: After the duel between Jerry Forsberg and Mikael during Episode 32 on Day 39, instead of going home, the loser was transferred to a separate beach where castaways eliminated without traditional Tribal Councils would get a chance to return to the game through four challenges. The winner in each of the first three challenges would get to eliminate another castaway from returning to the game, and in the fourth challenge, the last two remaining castaways would return to the game.

• Jerry entered first into the Serenity by losing a duel against Mikael on Day 39.
• Mikael later joined by losing a duel against Dennis on Day 44.
• Rasmus Nilsson eliminated himself by taking an offer of paddling a canoe, following a map from Team X's beach on Day 50.
• Johnny also eliminated himself by taking the same offer on Robinson's beach on Day 51.
• Johanna joined after losing a duel against Carro Johansson on Day 51.
• Dan was voted out in an impromptu Tribal Council when the tribes merged on Day 52.

• Returnee by Jury Vote: On the Final Tribal Council on Day 67, after the discovery of a prize money sharing plan between a few of the castaways, they were told they couldn't vote for a winner. Instead, the jury had to vote for one of themselves to re-enter the game as a finalist.
• Returnee by Viewer Vote: During the final cycle, the viewers could vote for any of the castaways that made it into the first merge. The one castaway with the most votes would re-enter the game as a finalist.
