This 30-year-old MOD project manager was born in Hillingdon, but brought up in Sussex and Middlesex. She was the fourth female in Britain to qualify as an army bomb disposal expert, but left as she wanted more control over her life. She divorced in 1997 and now lives in Oxfordshire with her new partner who has two children aged 9 and 5.
She can swim, build shelters, catch and gut fish, and skin animals. But she admits to feeling that she is "not a tactile person" and to hating "skivers." It's this prickliness that leads to her getting defensive and argumentative under pressure.
Her physical fitness is a strength - she works as a personal trainer, visits the gym three times per week and is also adept at off-road motorbiking.[2]
