Denis est né en Russie et a quitté sa ville natale à l'âge de 8 ans pour s'établir avec sa famille en Israël. À ce moment, leur vie se résumait à 8 gros sacs remplis d'effets personnels. Ils ont vécu en Israël pendant quelques années avant de venir s'installer au Québec en 2005. Grâce à ses expériences de vie, Denis parle 4 langues, il a une grande capacité d'adaptation et il sait se contenter de peu. Pour lui, les défis qu'il a dû surmonter font partie du cours normal de la vie. Il trouve sa force à travers sa spiritualité et la méditation. Denis est un grand romantique et il n'a d'yeux que pour sa femme qu'il a rencontré dans l'avion lors d'un voyage en 2018. Sa plus grande crainte pour Survivor Québec : s'ennuyer de son épouse qui est présentement enceinte de leur premier enfant.[1]

Denis was placed on the Kalooban tribe, where he bonded with practically all of his tribemates, especially Martine Larose Reda. Emerging as a power player, Denis became a deciding factor in the Kalooban tribe's first two eliminations. Additionally, Denis had received a clue to his camp's Hidden Immunity Idol after attending a summit alongside Tiyaga's Marika Guay, though he did not find it. For the next couple of cycles, Nicolas Brunette and Justine Turpin were easily on the bottom rung of Denis' alliance and seemed to be in danger of being voted out next. However, Denis became concerned about how close Sylvain Béland and Maryse Lauzon were getting and orchestrated a blindside on the former at Kalooban's next Tribal Council.
When the Kalooban tribe attended the following Reward Challenge, they were all surprised to see that Sylvain was, in fact, not eliminated but instead a new member of the rival Tiyaga tribe. Sylvain used his newfound position to confirm to the rest of the Tiyaga tribe that Denis was as strategic as they thought he was, which incited Sango Bien-Aimé and Jean-Junior Morin to try to make Maryse feel safe when they raided Kalooban as part of their reward. Back on Kalooban, Denis' tribemates were beginning to pick up on how he seemed to have everybody in his back pocket and how it would be impossible for him to please everybody in the long run. As such, after losing the seventh Immunity Challenge, the majority of the Kalooban tribe made plans to split their votes between Martine and Denis at the corresponding Tribal Council while said pair targeted Maryse. Denis received three votes, resulting in his blindside.
