Daniel "Dan" Patrick Martin Aloysius Foley[1] is a contestant from Survivor: Worlds Apart.

He is best known for his outspoken candor and undiluted opinions of his fellow tribemates in confessionals, many of which landed him in controversy both during and after his time on the show. He is also known for winning an extra vote advantage at the Survivor Auction.

Profile

Name (Age): Dan Foley, 47
Tribe Designation: Blue Collar (Escameca)
Current Residence: Gorham, Maine
Occupation: Postal Worker
Personal Claim to Fame: I had a terrible fear of heights so I faced it head on. I went on my first airplane ride…and jumped out at 13,000 feet. Heights don’t really bother me anymore.
Inspiration in Life: My Dad, Phil Foley. Now that I am an adult, I look back on the things my Dad did for my family (my siblings, my mom and myself) and I realize what kind of sacrifices he made for us. Having been one of the four kids that my parents adopted, I acknowledge even more the love that he gave all of us growing up and continues to give every day.
Hobbies: Anything with my wife, Erin, disc golf and working on my properties.
What is your favorite sport? If I’m watching, Football, and if I’m playing, disc golf.
Pet Peeves: People who drive too slow in the fast lane and won’t get out of the way.
3 Words to Describe You: Opinionated, adventurous and gregarious.
If You Could Have 3 Things on The Island What Would They Be and Why? 1. A deck of cards to help pass the time 2. A picture of my family to remind me of what’s waiting for me 3. Some disc golf discs to help bond with my tribe mates and to possibly use to hunt.
SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: I think I have Stephenie’s competitive spirit, Tony Vlachos's cunning and scheming gameplay, and Rupert Boneham's strength, love of family and stunning good looks.
Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: To claim my rightful place amongst the elite winners of Survivor! Second, to challenge myself in the greatest psychological and sociological challenge ever!
Why You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: Obviously, any challenge that involves a lot of running will not be in my “wheelhouse,” but anything involving gross food eating, strength, swimming, puzzles or balance, I’ll be in it to the end. As for the social game, I am a world class “schmooze” artist. I can charm my way out of almost anything.
Why Will You Be the Sole SURVIVOR: As a landlord, I am excellent at reading people and controlling some pretty out of control situations. As an Irishman, I have a glorious stubborn streak and I hate to lose. As a technician, I have a very analytical mind so I’ll be great at puzzles. I’m also very good with my hands so I’ll be a big help around camp. I am the entire package. Also, I am not above taking the rules of fair play in a spirited competition and grinding them to dust beneath my heel.

Survivor: Worlds Apart

Dan was a member of the Blue Tribe, and would find himself in a good position as he and his early game closest ally Mike Holloway were widely seen as the leaders of the group to start. He would never be in danger in the early going and enter the merge of 12 with 5 original Blue Collar Tribe members. At this point the Blue Collar and White Collar tribemates would team up (with the exception of ex White Collar tribe member Shirin who was not included in the alliance, and ex No Collar tribe member Will Sims II who was) to take out all the White Collar tribe members, losing original Blue Collar Tribe member Kelly along the way due to Jenn Brown's hidden Immunity Idol. Before the White Collar alliance was even all eliminated though, Dan and Sierra, Mike's previous closest allies, would turn against Mike and join onto ex Blue Tribe member Rodney's 6 person alliance. Mike would continue to save himself with immunity wins though, and now having alienated one another, be a constant thorn in Dan's side, although MIke would attempt to pull Dan onto his side again to no avail.

Most of the alliance spoke about their plans of taking Dan and Will to the final 3, feeling they would be the 2 easiest jury opponents, and Dan seemed completely safe for quite awhile. He did hold a Double Vote option though, which he bid on at an earlier Auction, which struck some fear in the others. At the Final 6, when Mike again saved himself by winning immunity, Dan spoke up at Final Tribal Council about using his Double Vote option, in an attempt to have the votes to get out Carolyn Riviera. This sparked an indecisive Carolyn to play her hidden Immunity Idol, and also caused Mike and Carolyn to cast their votes against Dan, who they were convinced was clearly not on their side moving forward. All 5 votes for Carolyn would be negated, and Dan with the votes of Mike and Carolyn would be voted out of the game. At the Final Tribal Council, Dan berated Mike for not caring about the jury. Then Mike told Dan that he regretted losing his trust after his actions at the Survivor Auction, and apologized to him. After a long deliberation, Dan cast his vote for Mike to win the game.
