Caught in the Web (also known as Web Over Water) is a recurring physical tribal challenge. It debuted in Survivor: Africa, and has since recurred in Guatemala and Heroes vs. Villains with some modification.
On a web of rope hang a number of bags or baskets. One at a time, the castaways must race up their team's ramp, climb the net to retrieve one bag or basket, and then race back to the finish line. The first team to retrieve all their bags or baskets and cross the finish line wins.
History
In Survivor: Africa it appeared as a Reward Challenge. The first tribe to retrieve all twelve baskets won reward, which consisted of the food items used in the challenge such as soup mix, ostrich eggs, olive oil, seasonings, jelly, and a small ration of rice. Kim Johnson slowed the Boran tribe down with her poor showing, allowing the Samburu tribe to win the challenge.
In Survivor: Guatemala, after retrieving a bag, the castaways must jump into the water below the net and make their way back to the start. If they fell in before reaching a bag, they would have to go back to the start of the challenge. First tribe to retrieve all eight bags wins fishing supplies. Nakúm defeated Yaxhá to win the challenge.
In Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, three contestants from each tribe would retrieve a bag with puzzle pieces. Once all six bags were retrieved, two other castaways from each tribe would assemble the puzzle. The first tribe to assemble their puzzle would win immunity. Courtney Yates struggled to retrieve the bags for the Villains, allowing the Heroes to win immunity.
