Carmela Carolina Fernanda "Carmen" Russo is the Sole Survivor of Supervivientes: Perdidos en el Caribe. She originally competed on L'Isola dei Famosi 1, and later on L'Isola dei Famosi 9.

CORAGGIOSA e SEXY
Carmen Russo nasce a Genova il 3 ottobre 1959.
Nel 1974, a soli 14 anni, vince il titolo di Miss Liguria, ma viene squalificata dal concorso Miss Italia perché troppo giovane. Comincia ad esibirsi nei locali notturni, raggiungendo molta popolarità.
Tra i film a cui partecipa ricordiamo "Di che segno sei?" con Paolo Villaggio e "Giovani, belle…probabilmente ricche" con Gianfranco D'Angelo.
Debutta in televisione nel gennaio 1978 in "La Bustarella" su Antenna 3; nel giugno 1983 è a "Colosseum" su Raidue, e a ottobre dello stesso anno diventa la prima donna del varietà di Antonio Ricci "Drive In", dove canta, recita e balla, guidata dal coreografo e suo compagno Enzo Paolo Turchi.
Da quel momento si dedica solo alla televisione, partecipando a numerose trasmissioni per la Tv commerciale come "Risatissima", "Grand Hotel" e "Un fantastico tragico Venerdì". Per la Rai partecipa a "Io Jane, tu Tarzan" per poi trasferirsi in Spagna a lavorare a Tele Cinco.[1]

Supervivientes: Perdidos en el Caribe[]
Carmen started her journey on Supervivientes largely forgotten by the Spanish public, having last been on regular TV in the early nineties on chat show VIP Noche. Her comic wit and diva-style antics endeared her to the public outside of her home country, with the fact that she had been on L'Isola dei Famosi not well-publicised. She won the final with 55.6% of the vote over Verónica Romero and Jesús de Manuel. She donated part of her winnings to a children's charity.[3]

Post-L'Isola dei Famosi[]
After her successful stint on L'Isola dei Famosi, she successfully won Supervivientes, with her charisma and 'vedette' charm winning over Spanish audiences. Prior to her participation on the shows, she had successful TV careers in both Italy and Spain in the 80s and 90s, and her success on both shows eventually gave her a second career in both countries. Her victory on the Italian version made her front page news on tabloid paper Interviú and gained her some welcome positive publicity.
Her fight to become a mother was regular news in both countries, and in 2013 she had a daughter through IVF.[4] She also starred in films including Más buena que el pan and TV series El chiringuito de Pepe. In 2024, she appeared as a guest dancer on Bailando con las estrellas, the Spanish version of Strictly Come Dancing, dancing the salsa to Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5".
