Calena

Calena is the merged tribe of Caletón and La Nena from Survivor 2023. Their tribe colour is pink.

After the two tribes merged at the final eleven, La Nena's dysfunctional dynamics caused Caletón to gain a majority, leading to a brief pagonging of the original La Nena. At the final eight however, Matthew evened the numbers by flipping on his old tribemates. With the numbers evened, a free-for-all dictated the results of final days of the game.

Tribe History[]

On Day 19, the two tribes of Caletón and La Nena merged and became the Calena tribe. Immediately following the merge, the castaways participated in the Survivor Auction. Doug Swinbanks won the first individual immunity of the season. A multitude of targets emerged to be the merge boot, notably Lee Reeves as he planned on targeting the women of the game, especially Ashleigh Bishop due to her close bond with Christopher Haul. Lee's strategy alienated the women on the tribe, which combined with his meltdown at the first merge Tribal Council, resulted in him being the first jury member in a vote of 7-4. Because of Lee calling them out, Ashleigh and Christopher had become the two biggest targets on the tribe. After Pegleg Bennett won the Day 21 immunity challenge, he proposed a split vote between Ashleigh and Christopher, in case a hidden immunity idol was played. After hearing wind of the vote split plan, Christopher played his idol, resulting in Ashleigh being eliminated in a 4-2-0 vote, becoming the 2nd jury member.

On Day 22, Tinuke Oyediran realised that the original Caletón now outnumbered La Nena, and planned to blindside Doug as he had multiple connections on the season and had played much quieter than consensus target Christopher. Tinuke pulled the other original Caletón members and after Doug lost the immunity challenge to Tinuke herself, everything seemed to be going smoothly. However, after a conversation with Leilani Sen, Christopher became suspicious and tried warning the La Nena members, to no avail. The blindside of Doug worked as he was eliminated in a 5-3-2 vote, becoming the 3rd jury member. While on a Day 25 reward, Matthew Haywood and Laurence Cardwell talked to Christopher, and eventually began considering a flip on the Caletón alliance. After Laurence won immunity and removed himself from strategy, Matthew was left as the deciding vote between Tinuke and Christopher, choosing to side with the original La Nena and eliminating Tinuke in a 4-3-1 vote, becoming the 4th jury member. For his general lack of close connections, Laurence was blindsided at the following Tribal Council after Christopher won immunity in a 5-1-1 vote, making him the 5th jury member.

The final 6 was divided into three duos: Matthew and Christopher, Pegleg and Hannah Baptiste, and Leilani Sen and Nathan Dyke. Christopher, still the primary target, tried to form an alliance with Hannah and Pegleg to eliminate Nathan, offering himself up as a meat shield. After Pegleg won immuity, he and Hannah chose to side with Christopher and Matthew, eliminating Nathan in a 4-2 vote, making him the 6th jury member. Following the final 5 immunity challenge, which Christopher won, Matthew and Pegleg emerged as the two key targets, as Hannah and Leilani began to be seen as goats in the game, with Pegleg being taken out over Matthew in a 4-1 vote, becoming the 7th jury member, due to having a perceived higher threat level. Christopher also went on to win the final immunity challenge, and without time to strategize, Leilani and Hannah became the two likely targets to go home. Hannah was identified as the bigger threat of the two, resulting in her being the final person voted out of the season in a 3-1 vote, becoming the final jury member.

After spending their last day together, Christopher, Matthew, and Leilani faced the jury at the Final Tribal Council. Matthew was praised for his flip on Tinuke and his social game, Christopher was criticized for his frantic gameplay, but was praised for his challenge ability, and Leilani was mostly ignored by the jury due to her gameplay being seen as incompetent. In a 6-1-1 vote, Matthew defeated Christopher and Leilani to become the Sole Survivor of Survivor 2023.
