The Bridge of Concord (Spanish: El puente de la concordia) is a gameplay mechanic that regularly appeared throughout Supervivientes 2024. It is named after the similarly named bridge in Madrid, in turn named after the Pont de la Concorde in Paris.
In a version of the show where celebrity drama takes heavy precedence, the Bridge of Concord is often used as a way to get the castaways to settle their differences between themselves. However, and perhaps intentionally, this is rarely realized, as famously demonstrated by Aurah Ruiz and Rubén Torres.[1]
Gameplay[]
Both castaways start at opposite ends of a bridge, separated by four words to a central point where they come together. Both sets of words are identical. The word acts as a prompt, which the contestant uses to talk about the other castaway sardonically yet fairly. For example, "fea" (ugly) came up for Rubén Torres against Aurah Ruiz, whom he said had "ugly things like lack of respect and ungratefulness".[1]
There are no winners, and often produces as much drama as it seeks to remove. However, it can sometimes be genuinely helpful as psychological assistance, such as in the case of Kiko Jiménez and Laura Matamoros, who started to repair their relationship after their appearance on the Bridge.[2][3]
