Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty (alternatively ordered Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty) is a tribe division twist in Survivor.
Premise
The groupings of these tribes, each comprised of six castaways, reflect the distinguishing qualities that people bring to the game and test whether there is any truth to the pre-conceived notion that certain characteristics will help you win the game of Survivor.[1] The members of the "Brains" tribe use their intellect to get by in life; while the members of the "Beauty" tribe use their looks and social skills, and the members of the "Brawn" tribe use their brute strength. When put all three traits together, they make up the Survivor motto: Outwit ("Brains"), Outplay ("Beauty"), Outlast ("Brawn").
History
In Survivor: Cagayan, the contestants were split into three tribes to begin the game: Aparri (Brawn), Luzon (Brains), and Solana (Beauty). The Brawn tribe won all Immunity Challenges, allowing all six members to last until the Tribe Switch. The Beauty tribe won all but one Immunity Challenge, voting out Brice Johnston. However, the Brains tribe had the most unsuccessful run during their time as a tribe, losing all but one Immunity Challenge, eliminating David Samson, Garrett Adelstein, and J'Tia Taylor. By Day 12, the tribes were no longer separated by traits, thus ending the twist.
The twist was reused in Survivor: Kaôh Rōng, with Chan Loh, To Tang, and Gondol as the names of the Brains, Brawn, and Beauty tribes respectively. The season also altered the tagline to "Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty", switching the order of the Brawn and Brains. On this season, it was the Brawn tribe who had the most unsuccessful run on challenges, only winning one Immunity Challenge during their run just like Luzon, voting out Darnell Hamilton, Jennifer Lanzetti, and Alecia Holden. Meanwhile, the Brains tribe was similar to Solana, losing only one member before a tribe switch, during the third Tribal Council. The Beauty tribe, on the other hand, did not lose a single Immunity Challenge before the tribe switch, similar to Aparri. However, unlike Aparri, they did lose a member before the tribe switch, losing Caleb Reynolds in a medical evacuation. The tribes were switched on Day 12, thus ending the twist.

- Host Jeff Probst claimed that the twist (initially code-named as "B.B.B.") was due to popular demand.[2]
- In Kaôh Rōng, the color of the animals on the tribes' buffs matched the colors of the tribes in Cagayan. A green alligator for the Brains, an orange tiger for the Brawns, and a purple snake for the Beauties.
