Bob-Bob Buoy is a recurring Survivor challenge. It debuted in Survivor: Palau before reappearing internationally in Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders (2018).

Rules

Castaways must each grab onto a navigational buoy and hang on while the buoy sways from side to side. The last player left hanging on would win.

In Australian Survivor, the castaways must keep both feet on their pedestal and both hands on an idol at all times, failing which they will be eliminated from the challenge.

History

The challenge debuted as the Final Immunity Challenge in Survivor: Palau. Katie Gallagher was the first person to drop out. Ian Rosenberger and Tom Westman went on to set the record for the longest challenge ever run as they held on for just under 12 hours. Eventually, out of guilt for his actions over the past few days, Ian struck a deal with Tom that he would step down as long as Tom agreed to take Katie to the Final Two. Tom agreed, won the Immunity Necklace, and verbally voted Ian out at the challenge site.

The challenge made its first appearance in an international series in Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders (2018), where it was also the Final Immunity Challenge. Sharn Coombes won the challenge.
