In New Zealand I've just started watching Survivor, and to me my personal favorite to win was Russel, I have seen such a cunning and smart player since Survivor Panama's Shane Powers, although congrats to Natalie for winning.

This is simple, to make good TV, we see the things that affect the game, there's a reason Russell had the most confessionals, and I would've wanted to see Tai win in Kaoh Rong, not Aubrey, those 900 hours are mostly silent and nothing happens, most of the time people just sit around not talking to each other because the cameras aren't pointed at them, simple. The history is always what happens, the main parts are put together so we get what's happening, simple
"most of the time people just sit around not talking to each other because the cameras aren't pointed at them"
LOL @ people falling into a coma when the cameras are not on them. You should ask Mitchell Olson what he thinks about that (:
You do realise that the rules state that no one is allowed to talk to each other if no one is around recording, a coma is uncontrollable, strategising isn't, yet again you have an invalid point. :/
The rules also state that people can't steal other people's possessions and yet Bill threw Colton's idol into the ocean and Julie buried Phillip's shorts. They also state they can't smuggle things or go near production's camp and lots of people are know to have done that.
Anyway, I've said since the beginning that it was pointless to keep this conversation and yet here I am. I am really an idiot. Bye (:
P.S.: I'm choosing to believe you are just a troll (:
And Colton's idol was returned to him and Holly gave Dan new shoes at the reunion, though the smuggling thing is true
P.S. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they're trolls, just sayin, pretty immature on your part. :/
P.S.: I'm choosing to believe you are just a troll (:
...JUST because he has a different opinion makes him a troll?
I never even thought the Samoa jury was that bitter against Hantz, I always just thought they just voted for Natalie White since she had a very strong social game and they were much closer friends with her than Hantz. Same with Michelle in Kaôh Rōng. That's just my opinion.
Russell was by far the most interesting character and confessional giver of his alliance, which is why he got so much screentime and appeared to be in control. But Natalie did everything right to put herself in a position to win. Keep in mind perception is not always reality. The show we see may be different than the game the players see.
I can understand why people might think Russell deserved the win, and I absolutely think cunning should come before loyalty, but we're not the jury, and we don't see all of it. Any amount of strategy is worthless if the social element isn't covered, and clearly that's where Natalie had Russell beat.
The person who makes it to the Final Tribal Council and gets the most votes to win deserves to win. Period. I learned this the hard way with Aubry in Kaôh Rōng. As for Russell: no, he did not deserve to win either season. As many others have said, his social game and jury management are abysmal. Every jury is different, which is why we get different kinds of winners every season. In Samoa, Russell completely misread the Galu-majority jury. He thought they would award his self-perceived strategic gameplay instead of voting for the person who treated them well. Natalie made connections with everyone on the jury, while Russell treated them like shit. I think it was Laura's question that was edited out where Natalie was asked what she knew about each of the jurors, and she proceeded to name all their family members one by one. Hell, Jaison and the six Galus who voted for Natalie even considered splitting their votes 4-3, just to make sure that Russell wouldn't even get second place, but ultimately decided against it. That's how much he pissed them off.
In Heroes vs. Villains, he and Parvati completely alienated the Heroes, especially after the double idol play at the merge. They would read that idiot J.T.'s letter out loud and laugh about it right in front of the Heroes, further rubbing salt in their wounds when they were already down on numbers. Remember his tense confrontation with Rupert the morning after Amanda was voted out? And for all the shit he gave the Heroes, his treatment of the Villains was just as bad. Telling Rob that Sandra and Courtney needed to go because they were useless, when Sandra and Courtney were right there? And if you haven't seen it, Coach's secret scene after his boot was him giving Russell his rosary to solidify their trust. Then at the very next Tribal Council, Russell goes on to blindside Coach. Why is this important? Because if you've seen South Pacific, Coach is very religious. Then Russell later uses Coach's rosary to give his word to Colby and Rupert after the merge, then proceeds to vote them out too. And let's not even forget the extremely callous manner he sent Danielle to the jury. He lost irrevocably Parvati's loyalty after that, and alienated yet another juror. No, the jury that season wanted to vote for someone they respected. Russell was not that person. That's why majority of their votes went to Sandra.
TLDR, Russell's social game and jury management are shit. In no way did he deserve to win either time.
