Hi. I'm new to this forum. Since I didn't see it anywhere, I created this thread so people can introduce themselves. I'll start.
I'm from Puerto Rico. The first season of Survivor I ever saw live and fully was Survivor: Australia back in 2001 after hearing so much buzz about the first season. I liked it a lot but after that I started medical school and basically my TV viewing fell through the cracks and didn't see another season afterwards.
Ten years later, in 2011, I saw that in one of my favorite sites, avclub.com, they were going to cover the first season of Survivor on a weekly basis and I decided to watch and follow along with them. My interest in the show suddenly was awakened and found out that a new season was airing live at the same time and started watching again. The season was South Pacific. After that, I watched every season as they aired and on one of my streaming services (I believe it was Hulu) they had Nicaragua and Redemption Island so I immediately devoured them.
It was strange, the only reality show I was watching at the time was The Amazing Race and I basically had a general disregard to all reality shows. But watching Survivor, I just grew to love it and became one of my favorite shows. This year, as I watched Cagayan, I decided that I couldn't deny anymore that I hadn't watched seasons 3-20. I basically bought some DVDs and bought the rest through iTunes.
I've been seeing all seasons in order and the last season I saw was Micronesia. Four more seasons to go to finally catch up!
So far, and I know I'll probably get criticized, my favorite season has been Cook Islands. I really liked the underdog story of the Aitu tribe even after the mutiny by Candice and Penner. Penner switching alliances back and forth. Having Candice sent to Exile Island every single time as payback was just too funny. Seeing Ozzy dominate on the Challenges was amazing and the brilliance of Yul. Their Final Tribal Council was something else and the close vote really had something to say on how great each of them played the game, Brawns vs. Brains. Oh, and lets not forget the fire making challenge that lasted forever, so funny.
I have grown to love this show and I'm basically obsessed with it now even subscribing to podcasts that discuss it! During this time, I discovered this website and I have become a huge fan of it so that's why I decided to start this thread. I hope to get to know you guys.
