The Australian Survivor Hall of Fame is a special recognition given to either contestants or important figures from Australian Survivor with exemplary deeds who have contributed highly to the Australian format of the show. It is a co-production of several podcasts and Australian Survivor media personnel.

In November 2023, the Australian Survivor Hall of Fame announced on social media that it was going on indefinite hiatus.[1]

About[]

The concept was initially thought up by former Survivor Oz host Ben Waterworth in 2017, and in 2020 he helped create it as a collaborative project between several prominent people involved in Australian Survivor, including former players, members of the media and podcast hosts. The goal behind the project was similar to the US Survivor Hall of Fame, and sought to honour the players and figures who have helped shaped the Australian version of Survivor since it began in 2002.

Voting[]

Inductees each year are decided by an equally weighted vote from an expert panel and the general public. Both the expert panel and public vote for a select number of players, while the expert panel also votes for a non-player to be inducted.

To ensure all three eras of Australian Survivor are equally honoured, each voter has to vote for someone from the "classic era" (from either the 2002 version of Australian Survivor or the 2006 version of Australian Survivor) and someone from the "modern era" (the Channel Ten version of Australian Survivor from 2016 onwards). The remaining vote can be for anyone from any era. In the first edition of the Hall of Fame in 2020, this was expanded to induct five players and had to include a player from the 2002 version, 2006 version and the 2016+ version. The general public was allowed to vote for the non-player category in 2020, the only time it has been able to do so.

Players who have played on any edition of the Australian version of the show are eligible to be voted for, as long as their season did not first air within the last two years of that year's vote.

Voting takes place each year across the month of October, with inductees announced in either November or December.
