Annalize Sainsbury

Annalize Sainsbury is a contestant from Survivor South Africa: Philippines.

Annalize started as the "Lion" of the Luzon tribe, spearheading the Big Five alliance alongside Chané Mynhardt. After an unfavorable rock draw outcome and a nearly game-ending luck of the draw at the tribe expansion, Annalize recovered and became a core member of Werner Joubert's Luzon Alliance. By maintaining strong social bonds and a positive attitude, Annalize was able to make it all the way to the final three. There, Jeanne Michel believed that she could swing more votes from Tom Swartz than from Annalize, so Annalize was voted out, becoming the final member of the jury.

Annalize is a mother of two from Cape Town who owns her own catering company. Annalize describes herself as an eternal optimist, always with a smile on her face, and feels that she reads people well – a quality that could stand her in good stead in a game like Survivor. Annalize doesn't go anywhere without her gold bikini and admits that the one thing she'll miss the most on the island, apart from her family, is an ice cold gin and tonic! Her favourite Survivor player is Monica Culpepper from Survivor: Blood vs. Water.^[1]

^1 In Episode 2, the vote ended with a 4-4 tie between Annalize and Josie, forcing a revote. Nobody changed their vote on the revote, forcing a rock-drawing tiebreaker. Annalize was immune from the tiebreaker.
^2 In Episode 6, Luzon and Mindanao were subjected to a joint and mock Tribal Council where the players they voted out were merely switched to the other tribe. Annalize ultimately received enough votes to be swapped to the other tribe.
^3 In Episode 10, PK used a Hidden Immunity Idol, negating Annalize's vote against him. Also, the vote ended in a 1-1-0-0 tie between Chané and Tom, forcing a revote. Annalize voted for Chané on the revote.
