Alec competed on San Juan del Sur with his older brother, Drew Christy. When it was time to separate, Alec gotten the an orange buff and was placed on Coyopa. Like most of his tribe, Alec was impressed with Dale Wentworth after the 55 year-old made fire using his reading glasses. Coyopa was initially leading in the first Immunity Challenge. However, Hunahpu emerged as the victors because Coyopa's inability to solved the puzzle. Alec agreed with Dale that Nadiya Anderson was too dangerous to keep around because of her previous experience on The Amazing Race, and joined in voting her out. She was the first person voted out of the game in 5-3-1 vote.
A few days later, Alec was talking with Dale and Wes Nale when the topic of John Rocker being a former MLB player. Dale points out he made derogatory comments towards minorities and gay people. At the second Immunity Challenge, Alec faced off against Drew but lost. Coyopa would lose the Immunity Challenge, sending them to Tribal Council. The men decided to Split the vote between Val Collins (who claimed to have two Hidden Immunity Idols when she had none) and Baylor Wilson. The vote was tied, 4-4 and Val was voted out in the revote.
Wes won the Hero's Duel against his father, Keith. He picked fishing gear for the tribe. Baylor tried to convince Alec and Wes to form an alliance with her and Jaclyn Schultz in order to vote out John. All this did was made Alec aware that Baylor was on the bottom. Coyopa failed to win immunity again and there was a yelling match between John and Natalie Anderson. Because of the incident, Josh Canfield lost trust in John and told Alec and Wes to vote John out. Alec didn't want to because John was Coyopa's strongest player but nonetheless, Alec voted John, who was blindsided in a 5-2 vote. After Tribal Council, Alec explained to Dale, the only person who voted with John about the vote and why he was left out. At the next Immunity Challenge, Coyopa was finally able to win immunity.
On Day 10, Coyopa was relishing in their first victory. Based on the Tree Mail, the tribe presumed that it was another Hero's duel. Alec was ready to have a rematch with Drew. However, Alec along with Coyopa was stunned that Drew was voted out of the tribe. Another shock happened when a Tribe Switch occurred. Alec, Josh, and Wes was transferred to the new Hunahpu tribe. Alec was pleased with his new tribe, viewing it as athletically Superior to new Coyopa. However, Hunahpu had very little rice from overeating. Jeremy Collins, who was worried about Reed Kelly flipping to Josh, tried to get Alec on his side. Jeremy likened Alec to a "mini-Drew". Hunahpu won the Immunity Challenge in a blowout. After the win, Hunahpu pleaded for more rice. The next day, they received the rice but at the expense of losing nearly everything. Hunahpu made a comeback at the Immunity Challenge and won.
On Day 16, the Hunahpu tribe got Tree Mail that heavily implied a merge. This was later confirmed when the remaining castaways arrived to a merge feast. Keith would join the men's alliance after he got votes from Baylor and her mother, Missy Payne. Josh also took measures to ensure the majority by recruiting Jaclyn and her boyfriend, Jon Misch in order to oust Jeremy. However, The plan to vote out Jeremy was put on hold as Julie McGee would quit for various reasons. At the next Reward Challenge, Alec was teamed with Jaclyn, Jon, Josh, and Baylor, but they lost. Once Wes came back from the reward, the men talked about and did farting and burping. This annoyed the women of the tribe but neither one cared. The plan to vote out Jeremy was foiled again after he won immunity. Josh declared Baylor the next target. However, It was Josh who was voted out because Jaclyn convinced Jon to flip to Jeremy's alliance.
At the next Reward Challenge, Alec only went once against Keith but lost. However, Alec's team ended up winning the challenge. Jeremy and Natalie Anderson gave up their reward to Jon and Jaclyn. At the next Tribal Council, Alec, Keith, and Wes all voted against Reed to save themselves. However, Jeremy was blindsided at Tribal Council. Alec ended up on the winning team again at the Reward Challenge. When Alec returned, Reed told Alec of his plan to invoke a split vote in order to blindside Jon. Despite the split vote happening, the plan failed because of Jon using his Hidden Immunity Idol. Because Keith also used his idol, Wes was the only voted out as he was the only one with votes against him.
Once again, Alec was in the bottom of the tribe. At the Reward Challenge, Alec and his alliance ended up being eliminated in the challenge. The remaining castaways then decided to give Missy the reward, who picked Baylor and Natalie to join her. The men's alliance was quick to try to convince Jaclyn to flip. When Jon returned, Jaclyn told Jon of the swing vote status. However, Jon had no intention of allying with Reed and the couple fell into discontent. Jon also grew annoyed with Alec's flirting with his girlfriend. At Tribal Council, Alec and Keith once again voted against Reed and he was voted out unanimously. After Tribal Council, Alec was annoyed with the tribe viewing him as flirtatious when he really isn't. Alec gotten exiled by Natalie after she won the Reward Challenge. Jon won the Immunity Challenge. Alec and Keith voted against each other. Although Keith was supposed to be voted out, Natalie switched her vote to Alec, eliminating him in a 4-3 vote.
At Final Tribal Council, Alec asked Natalie what her biggest move. Natalie said it was voting Alec out. Alec then asked Missy what was so motherly about her game. Missy said it was centering herself as the mom and control the boot order. Alec voted for Natalie along with the majority of the men.
