Now, we all are aware of what occurred on the last two episodes of Survivor. Some of us were left feeling upset, confused, and disgusted over what we had just witnessed. Right now, I will do my best to explain why the situation got so messy and give my reaction to it, and I hope you give your reactions in the comments. Therefore, let’s get started.
The reason the entire situation got so messy was because certain players were able to mix the difficult situation with gameplay, while some took it as a personal situation. Missy and Elizabeth exaggerated or maybe even lied about their feelings and experiences with Dan in order to paint a target on his back. However, when they shared these exaggerations with Janet, she believed them, and being a very good person, she took it as a personal matter and said they should vote Dan out because it was the right thing to do. So, when Kellee got voted out, Janet was really confused because she thought Dan was going based off the personal matter. However, because Missy and Elizabeth mixed Dan’s situation with gameplay, it made for total confusion and left viewers with a really, really bad taste in their mouths. Now, let me offer my reaction to these events
To me, Missy and Elizabeth crossed a very big line, one that should have never been crossed. It is one thing to swear on your wife or your kids. It is another thing entirely for you to potentially tarnish someone’s reputation forever by spreading bad things about that person. This just showed how far they are willing to go to win a million dollars.
Dan himself deserves a fair share of the blame, but he not as much as people think. Yes, making Kellee very uncomfortable with his touching was very wrong, and he should feel very bad about what happened. However, I don’t think he is intentionally doing this, and I hope this issue was able to be resolved at the conclusion of filming. He is a somewhat a victim here, because some bad things were said about him that turned out to be fabrications by Missy and Elizabeth. I am in no way defending Dan, and he deserves a lot of criticism, but he shouldn’t be described as a pedophile like some people online are saying. What I really will condemn him for were his actions at Tribal Council. He shouldn’t have celebrated that much enthusiasm after Kellee was voted out based on what just happened, and he shouldn’t have tried to hide from it at the next Tribal Council. I like how Jeff put him in his place at Tribal Council and didn’t let him hide from what occurred. What he should do is after the game is over, offer a sincere apology to Kellee and try and make up for what happened.
I feel so bad for Janet, because she did not deserve anything that happened to her. She genuinely tried to do the right thing and help the girls because she thought they were very upset. It sucks that Missy and Elizabeth lied because it put Janet in the worst possible position ever. I really hope Janet gets out of her current position, because she does not deserve to lose in the slightest after what she went through in order to try and do the right thing for what she was lead to believe in.
I have the utmost respect for Kellee and the way she handled the situation. She was really brave for speaking up about what was bothering her. I also admire that even after everything that occurred, she still didn’t want it to affect her game. She was willing to put aside her personal issues and continue on with the game. While she may have gone home with two idols, she still proved to be a smart and fan favorite player, and I have no doubt that she will return depending on how long Survivor is going to continue on.
At the end of the day, I know this was a very serious issue that occurred yesterday and there is no questioning that. I only hope that we are able to move forward in this season, and that it isn’t tainted by the events that have occurred. I also hope that the situation will be resolved after the show, and that Missy and Elizabeth realize that what they did was wrong on so many levels, and that they are truly sorry for what they did. I hope you guys share your feelings about this in the comments below. Thanks for reading.
