And I thought Ghost Island was predictable.
And I thought Ghost Island was predictable.
@Ivanornels you actually make a really good point there, didnt think of it like that.
My only issue is that i feel like Tommy cruised through without any hiccups besides the vote where Dean saved him. Im worried that alot of males that know they arent the strongest or weakest physically, can just cruise to the end by relying on friendships since they arent seen as huge threats. Maybe im just a sucker for flashy moves 😂.
One of the most disappointing things to me was that I felt Dean's FTC was really hurt by the contradiction, but I felt it was a little ridiculous since the contradiction was because he didn't know how to answer Jamal's stupid question about ethical lines. Tommy was only able to answer it well because being a teacher, he's well equipped to answer questions he isn't originally sure how to answer on the spot. Dean just trued to give an answer so he wouldn't have to say "I didn't have any". Do I think this shifted the entire outcome of FTC? No. However, it's entirely possible. Props to all three finalists.
Here’s a thought of the season overall:
After the merge episode, I was constantly thinking to myself "Why couldn’t Tom have been the older man this season to go far into the game?"
Along with the Final 8 Tribal Council where Dean saved Tommy, Aaron and Elaine also had a part in getting Tommy through the Jason and Missy boots.
I'm on the fence between Tommy and Dean.
Tommy controlled the game like a boss, but was such a boring and bland character, and did not play an interesting game.
Dean was on the bottom pretty much all the time, but did everything to stay and get to the finale.
So for me, Island of the Idols is one of those seasons where both first and second place were deserving winners, and the choice was hard.
Other such seasons that come to mind are The Australian Outback (Colby vs. Tina), Cook Islands (Yul vs. Ozzy), Micronesia (Parvati vs. Amanda) and Ghost Island (Wendell vs. Domenick).
Here are the contestants from this season I wouldn't mind seeing as returnees:
Aaron
Dean
Kellee
Elaine
Janet
Noura
Vince
I get the boredom with Tommy (I kind of wished it wasn't him to keep the season from being stale), but you have to give him credit because he played classic Survivor. He didn't need to hide behind idols and advantages to get by and instead tricked everyone into feeding him information as to who had them. Heck, he didn't even need the help of Rob and Sandra!
Say what you want about Tommy but he certainly played to win, not for the audience's entertainment.
@IAmNothing712 Don't get me wrong, I do give Tommy the credit, and I think this is an important moment on Survivor, and kind of a move against Jeff and production, that the winner is not the player who made BIG MOVEZtm. I just wish Tommy would be more interesting and fun as a character. I mean, he is just not memorable at all, unlike Dean and Noura who were the ones we will remember from this season.
It's hard to play Tommy's game and be a great character, but it is effective. Reminds me of players like Aras, Yul, Denise, Michele, and even Game Changers Sarah who are often described as boring or under the radar.
@Ivanornels You can. Being a great character is not about being a great player. Noura is a horrible player, but she is a great character, for instance. Aras, Yul, Denise and Sarah all have their memorable moments. Don't know about Michele, though. I have to rewatch Kaoh Rong, but she was also a pretty bland character, which did not prevent her from being a pretty decent winner, albeit being one of the lesser ones.
Sarah Lacina was under the radar but she was not a "hero" or "one of the good ones", she was a back-stabbing villain (not complaining).
What do you think?
